The West Babylon School Lunch Department is committed to providing wholesome, nutritious breakfast and lunch meals to all students:
Our menus meet the nutrition guidelines under the National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program, and the Healthy Hunger Free Kids Act (HHFKA), as well as all state and local guidelines.
The School Lunch Department is operated under the direction of a Registered Dietitian (RD)
Fresh fruit and vegetables are offered daily.
We only serve 100% fruit juice.
Our meals are trans-fat free, unless naturally occurring.
A variety of whole grain products, such as whole grain breads, buns, and brown rice are incorporated into the menu on a daily basis.
Our food is purchased from local and domestic sources under the Buy American Requirements.
Our menus are created with the best intentions to incorporate student preferences while continuing to offer a variety of fruits, vegetables, lean protein, complex carbohydrates, and high calcium dairy products. Our menus are created with the intention of fulfilling 1/3 of the students’ daily dietary and caloric needs as outlined in the HHFKA.
The School Lunch Department understands that some students have very special dietary needs. We will collaborate with parents, students, and the school nurse to accommodate for those students requiring a special diet. Please feel free to reach out to the school lunch office at any time to review special dietary options.
NOTE: Due to difficulties with Distributors, there are times that menu substitutions have been necessary. We apologize for for this terrible inconvenience to the students are are diligently working towards proper solutions to diminish the need to make last minute menu changes. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we work through this.
The menu is subject to change when it cannot be avoided.
